Police say the suspect arrested in connection with the killing of former Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) officer Marius van der Merwe will appear in the Brakpan Magistrates’ Court, east of Johannesburg on Monday.
The deceased was referred to as Witness D when he testified before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria.

National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says, “After obtaining overwhelming evidence, the team got a warrant of arrest and made its first arrest on Saturday March the 14th.
