USSSA Elite Games: Uganda Martyrs Put Kitende In ‘View Once Mode’ As Buddo Extend Dominance – Xavier Radio Ug

Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the 2026 Elite Games after defeating football powerhouse St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende 2-1 in a thrilling clash held in Bombo.
In a match filled with intensity and drama, Uganda Martyrs drew first blood through Gerenga Ivan, who gave his side a 1-0 halftime lead. The Kampala champions returned from the break with renewed energy, and Usama Kyabaggu doubled the advantage to put Kitende under serious pressure.
Kitende pushed forward in search of a comeback, but Uganda Martyrs stood firm, determined but Denis Kisirko eventually pulled one back in the closing minutes, taking his tally to three goals in two matches, but it proved too little too late as Uganda Martyrs sealed a historic win.
Earlier in the day, Kitende had shown their attacking prowess with a commanding 5-1 demolition of Fortportal SS, a result that keeps their quarterfinal hopes alive. Having concluded their group stage fixtures, the Wakiso-based giants must now await other results to determine their fate.
Meanwhile, reigning USSSA national boys’ football champions Buddo Secondary School continued to assert their supremacy with two vital victories. Buddo edged Kyadondo SS 1-0 courtesy of Francis Balaba before securing a 2-0 win over Standard High School Zana, with goals from Balaba and Geoffrey Nyonyintono.
Elsewhere, Kawempe Muslim defeated Janan SS 2-0, Bukedea Comprehensive shared a 2-2 draw with Mentor SS, and Mentor later beat Janan Secondary School 3-0. Bukedea also edged Kawempe Muslim SS 1-0 in another tightly contested encounter.
