The search is continuing for two more people who are missing after a bakkie was swept off a low-lying bridge in the Msinga area of KwaZulu-Natal during heavy rain on Thursday night.
Four of the 10 occupants, twin brothers Sibongiseni and Sabelo Ndlovu, their uncle who was the driver and a passenger in the front seat, were able to escape.
The bakkie was transporting farm workers from the Kranskop area to their homes.
The bodies of two women, one of whom was pregnant, were found on Friday.
The Provincial Cooperative Governance Department says the bodies of a man and a woman were found on Saturday.
The department says that due to the heavy rains, the bodies were found over a stretch of many kilometres.
Describing the ordeal, survivor Sibongiseni Ndlovu says, “It was raining very hard, my uncle had to stop and wait for an hour because the water was above the river bank, when it stopped raining my uncle then tried to cross the river, in the middle of the bridge, a gush of water hit the car which caused him to lose control of the vehicle. My twin brother opened the canopy, we then jumped out. it was so sad to see others being unable to escape.”
