President Cyril Ramaphosa says the International Relations Department is in the process of identifying a number of South Africans who are trapped in the Middle East.
This follows the escalation violence in the region.
Ramaphosa says government is committed to ensuring that South Africans who are stranded are brought home safely. He was speaking on the sidelines of the 18-th Annual Africa Energy Indaba, in Cape Town
“And we are going to make an effort to bring those who are stranded back home. It would obviously require periods when the airspaces will be open for safe travel and we will be making all efforts that South Africans who are stranded are brought home safely.”
