Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, says the man’s body was discovered after the fire was contained.
He says the blaze has destroyed several shacks and seven people have been displaced.
“We had crews from Kraaifontein, Brackenfell, Bellville and Brooklyn on the scene. By 02:20 firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze that destroyed six informal structures and left approximately 11 persons displaced.”
