Accused number two in the Senzo Meyiwa trial Bongani Ntanzi has questioned the movement of one of his cellphones following his arrest in June 2020. Ntanzi has been on the witness stand under cross-examination at the High Court in Pretoria.
Five men are on trial for the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana captain. Throughout his testimony Ntanzi has maintained that he did not have a phone while in custody, as the investigating officers confiscated two of his cellphones on the day of his arrest.
Going through cellphone data and tower information, Ntanzi says he is puzzled that one of his cellphones pinged in Vosloorus, on Gauteng’s East Rand, while he was detained in Pretoria.
“The phone was not in my possession. June 17, the phone number is in Vosloorus. If one looks here on the 17th, the phone was at the tower that shows Vosloorus. And I was at the cells in Pretoria North.
And again, it was at the church. The witness pointed out the way to Apostolic Church. I was in the cells,” said Ntanzi.
