On Monday, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi will lead the national launch of the 30-year anniversary of South Africa’s Constitution at the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg.
In a statement, the justice ministry says the programme symbolises three decades of constitutional democracy under the theme: “30 Years of Constitutional Democracy: One Constitution, One Nation – Reflect, Renew, Recommit, ” while adding that the launch also will signify the start of the Human Rights Month which is celebrated to honour the victims of the Sharpville Massacre.
Similarly, the anniversary is set to commemorate 30 years since former President Nelson Mandela singed the Constitution into law on December 10th, 1996.
The Constitution then came into effect on the 4th of February 1997.
