Four people have drowned when their vehicle was swept away by an overflowing stream at Mokotopong outside Polokwane in Limpopo.
The bodies of two men and two women were retrieved by police divers and Polokwane Municipality’s fire and rescue department.
According to information, the deceased were crossing an overflowing low-lying bridge when their vehicle was swept away.
Inquest dockets have been opened.
The province saw several drowning incidents after as heavy flooding caused havoc earlier this year.
Heavy rains have battered various parts of the province, damaging homes, roads and bridges.
