Former Deputy National Police Commissioner for Support Services Francinah Vuma says she believes KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi spoke out of frustration during his explosive July 6th media briefing.
Vuma was testifying before Parliament’s Ad Hoc committee in Cape Town.
It’s probing alleged criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system.
Vuma told MPs she believes Mkhwanazi was a frustrated senior officer who felt ignored in the Police Service and may have gone public after internal processes failed to address his concerns…
” I saw a lieutenant general who is frustrated. I saw a lieutenant general who is bottled up, who has got a lot of issues that I believe, knowing General Mkhwanazi, has tried to voice them and felt that he is not heard. Probably Mkhwanazi, in his suffocation, in his trying to reach out or to get a hearing ear, decided that General Vuma tried to follow the normal processes. But where is she today? Sitting at home.”
