Opposition parties in the Mpumalanga Legislature have expressed different views about the Budget Speech delivered by the provincial MEC for Finance, Bonakele Majuba.
Some have welcomed the budget allocation, but others are concerned that sometimes funds are not used appropriately.
Speaking on behalf of the official opposition party, uMkhonto weSizwe, Benon Nxumayo, says, “In the face value, we are very happy, and we are happy that the figures are there for people of Mpumalanga to rejoice. But the question is, is the legislators going to be accountable for the money.”
“But we appreciate the fact that the multi-purpose centre at long last, finally, is coming to Mbombela Stadium. You have seen during our SOPA debate when we were protesting internally,” says the EFF’s Collen Sedibe.
ActionSA’s Thoko Mashiyane says, “I was very happy that health and education have been catered correctly, but fortunately, I’m in those committees, oversight committees. I will have to follow on the implementation and the timeframe.”
