Ekapa Minerals Mine in the Northern Cape, where 5 miners stay trapped after a mud hunch incident closing Tuesday, has been placed below liquidation.
All mining actions on the Kimberley mine were halted.
The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) says it’ll approach the courts for a capacity forward and a transparent idea on how the trapped men will be retrieved.
Numsa Kimberley organiser, Lerato Mohatlane, says: “We’re instructed that the mine will be liquidated and then the full workers absorb now not received their salaries as we pronounce as they had been speculated to be paid this day on the 25th of February.
