Pepsi University Football League action on Friday produced a spirited performance from Mountains of the Moon University, who held reigning champions Uganda Martyrs University to a hard-fought 1–1 draw at Nkozi on March 6, 2026.
The Fort Portal–based side started the match brightly, showing confidence and attacking intent against the defending champions. Their early dominance paid off in the 9th minute when David Ahebwa silenced the home crowd with a powerful strike to give Mountains of the Moon University the lead.
The visitors remained organized and disciplined throughout the first half, frustrating the hosts and carrying their advantage into the break.
Uganda Martyrs University returned for the second half with renewed urgency and eventually found a way back into the contest. The hosts were awarded a penalty in the 53rd minute, and Ronald Obedgiu calmly converted from the spot to restore parity.
Despite sustained pressure from the champions afterward, Mountains of the Moon University displayed impressive resilience and defensive discipline to protect their point until the final whistle.
The result lifts Uganda Martyrs University to eight points, leaving them two behind group leaders Kampala University in the standings.
While Mountains of the Moon University are still searching for their first win after four matches, their determined display in Nkozi highlighted a growing fighting spirit within the squad—an encouraging sign that their improving performances could soon translate into victories.
