Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia is visiting the victims of the latest mass shooting incident in Westbury in Johannesburg.
Two people were killed in the attack and three others were wounded, including a 15-month-old baby.
The motive for the shooting is still unknown and no arrests have been made.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Police, Kamogelo Mogotsi says, “The Acting Minister of Police, Mr Firoz Cachalia, will visit the families whose loved ones were killed in the mass shooting which occurred on Wednesday, 5 March 2026 in Westbury, Johannesburg. The Minister will also visit those who were injured during the attack and have since been hospitalised. It is reported that the five victims were at the corner Lark Spur Court and Jacaranda Court, when they were attacked by an unknown number of suspects. A 15-month old baby is amongst the injured; the incident has since claimed two lives.”
