The KwaZulu-Natal Division of Agriculture says bigger than 54 000 cattle have been vaccinated against foot and mouth illness (FMD) within the south waft space.
Twenty veterinary groups have administered doses of the vaccine at 150 dip tanks and industrial farms within the Ugu District.
The province has been identified as the epicentre of the outbreak.
MEC Thembeni Madlopha-Mthethwa says the mass vaccination marketing and marketing campaign will now creep to the Harry Gwala District.
The aim is to vaccinate about 2.5 million cattle in both communal and industrial herds within the 2 districts.
