South Africa are out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
After bossing the tournament, winning seven out of seven, the Proteas froze when it mattered most.
New Zealand, soundly beaten by the South Africans in the group stage, beat the Proteas by nine wickets in the first semi-final in Kolkata.
Put into bat, the Proteas only managed 169 for eight from their 20 overs, thanks largely to an unbeaten 55 by all-rounder Marco Jansen.
The Black Caps then put the South African attack to the sword.
Fynn Allen smashed the fastest century in T20 World Cup history, reaching three figures off 33 balls. The Black Caps romped home with 43 balls to spare and are through to Sunday’s final in Ahmedabad.
