Shock has gripped Kololo Junior School in Wakiso Town Council, Wakiso District, after a 14-year-old Primary Five pupil was found dead in the school dormitory in an apparent suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Kiseka John Terry, a Primary Five pupil of the above-mentioned school.
The preliminary findings indicate that on Tuesday night at about 2000hrs, as pupils returned to the dormitory from evening prep, they found Terry hanging inside the dormitory.
The pupils immediately informed the matron, who notified the school director, and Police to come and witnessed the difficult moment.
According to Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, the scene of crime officers deployed and found the body suspended with a red scarf tied to a roofing pole inside one of the school dormitories.
Kawala further adds that the school director and the matron have been arrested to assist police with ongoing investigations.
The body was conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the suspected suicide.
“We urge schools, parents, and guardians to promptly report to the police or seek professional help whenever signs of depression or distress are observed in children.” Says Kawala
