Passengers from Cape Town International Airport, who are traveling to or via the Middle East, are expecting further disruptions regarding their flights.
This comes as the conflict in the Gulf region intensifies.
The global flight disruptions and cancellations are linked to the evolving situation in the region following the American and Israeli attacks on Iran and Iran’s retaliation.
Among those affected are tour operators arranging return and departure flights for pilgrims leaving for Umrah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Tour operator Hafez Mohammed Sadek says, “At this stage, it is too early to determine whether travel routes or pilgrims will be affected by the current issues in the Middle East. The first Hajj departures are only scheduled for May 2026 and the situation in the region can change significantly between now and then.”
“It would thus be premature to speculate. We are closely monitoring the developments and remain in regular communication with the relevant authorities, stakeholders, and travel partners in the Kingdom,” adds Sadek.
