Gauteng Police Spokesperson, Dimakatso Nevuhulwi, says they are also  awaiting a declaration on whether the scene of the building collapse is safe before sending their members in to begin investigations.
Officials have called on the building’s developers to account.
“Although the scene has been handed over to the police by EMS, but it has not been declared safe for them to go in as yet. So, our LCRC, together with our detectives, who’ll be working together in terms of investigating this particular crime scene … they’ll have to get a declaration from the safety officer that it is safe for them to go into the building. But they have not received it,” says Nevuhulwi.
