The Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) has confirmed that the current closure of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) airspace has affected flights that Emirates and Qatar Airways operate.
The airlines have announced a temporary suspension of the flights following the escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
The US and Israel have launched military attacks on Iran, which has in turn attacked American interests in neighbouring countries, including the UAE and Qatar.
On Saturday, a number of passengers travelling from Cape Town International Airport to the Middle East were left stranded.
This after their flights were cancelled.

“Cape Town Tourism is aware of the current global flight disruptions linked to the situation in the Middle East and related airspace closures. We strongly encourage travellers to check directly with their airline or travel agent before heading to the airport as delays and cancellations are likely,” according to the statement.
